Our Technical Graduates, Freddie and Ellen help us celebrate National Careers Week

During National Careers Week in early March, we put the spotlight on two of our new Technical Graduates; Freddie Keen and Ellen Humby, who have recently started their careers at Pentadel.

Having completed their degrees, (Freddie - degree in Chemical Engineering from The University of Sheffield and a postgraduate degree in Food Process Engineering from the University of Nottingham and Ellen, a degree in Mathematics from Brunel University), both are learning fast what it takes to succeed in our industry.

During the week, they shared their experiences and insights so far:

Freddie; " I’m being exposed to various tasks and responsibilities required at a project management consultancy, which helps me to find where I belong within the industry. I've been working on a large scale project sizing the facility (inbound, outbound & process requirements) based on forecast numbers and producing a preliminary plant layout and costings for the client.

I enjoy the different challenges of my job and as someone who loves food, every project and facility I help Pentadel deliver, gives me a tangible sense of pride. The best thing about Pentadel is the people, everyone is friendly and helpful. I feel like I'm being invested in!”

Ellen: “Having done an industry year as an analysis engineer, I discovered a love of engineering. So the Technical Graduate role at Pentadel is perfect for me. I make up cost estimates for different versions of a project build and run cost reports for clients as well as analyse tenders that come in. I also work on AutoCAD, editing plans for projects and have drawn up a floor plan for a client too.

This job has surprised and challenged me in equal measure; I really enjoy the variety of the work it offers from quantity surveying to project management. I never realised how much goes into designing and building facilities and all the problem solving needed. The training and experience I’m getting here is invaluable and there’s also the added bonus of an office dog and cat!"

Both Freddie and Ellen are much valued team members and it is great to welcome such enthusiastic and positive new graduates to help our business grow.
