B&M Warehouse
Value retailer B&M appointed Pentadel to fulfil the roles of Principal Designer and Principal Contractor and to project manage the complex fit-out of its southern distribution hub, the UK’s largest building.
The warehouse near Bedford covers more than one million square feet – the equivalent of twelve premier league football pitches – and the fit out alone is costing more than £30 million.
The super structure incorporates vast state-of-the-art warehouse and distribution units including 160,000 cubic metres of freezer and chill storage, 500,000 cubic metres of pallet racking, three robotic shrink wrapper systems, a 2,500 metre square recycling area, as well as a bespoke IT system to ensure the efficient running of the whole facility.
We also oversaw the development of the building’s surrounds, including a gatehouse and vehicle maintenance area.
The project completed in Spring 2020, with the facility immediately opening for full operation.
